Grassroots Survey Among Small Business and Nonprofit Leaders About Their Reliance on Resources

(Vocus) July 14, 2009 -- Taking a page from the Obama Administration's playbook, Ventureneer is using technology to get a read on its constituents. Entrepreneurs and nonprofit leaders rely on many resources (e.g. business association membership, enrolling in classes online or in person, networking, seek advice/guidance from professionals or peers, etc.), but there is little known about their value.
Ventureneer.com, an online education and peer support service, is conducting a brief, nine-question online survey to find out:
* How much are each of these resources used?
* How strong an influence do these resources have on an enterprise leader and what is the impact to their organizations?
"Surveys are a tremendous tool in providing insights into a market. Over the past 30 years, I've moved from paper and phone to conducting surveys online," said Geri Stengel, President of Ventureneer. She added, "for markets that are predominately on the internet, online surveys provide a fast and cost efficient way to take their pulse." Geri Stengel has conducted market research for organization such as The Wall Street Journal, Dow Jones, MasterCard, Mathew Bender, the New York City Chapter of National Association of Women Business Owners and Governance Matters.
Forwarding the survey (http://bit.ly/yV2GF) to small businesses and nonprofit leaders will help it to spread virally and increase the number of people who complete the survey. The more responses to the survey the more finely results can be segmented and more insights revealed. The full link is http://www.surveymonkey.com/s.aspx?sm=yf1vL9cJGNQSCSlzvB3_2bhw_3d_3d.
A summary of the results will be shared on Vistas, Ventureneer's blog by late August 2009, which you can visit at ventureneer.com/vblog (www.ventureneer.com/vblog). Or you can request the full report, by simply submitting (http://ventureneer.com/contact) your email address.
Geri Stengel is currently an adjunct professor at The New School. She has served as a mentor for social enterprises entered in business plan competitions at Columbia Business School and New York University (NYU), Stern School of Business, and has served as a nonprofit board member. She honed her online experience at companies such as Dow Jones and Physicians' Online. She co-founded Women's Leadership Exchange, an online and conference resource for women-led businesses, and founded consulting practice Stengel Solutions.
